A family is not just a family in the sense of having blood relations. Every family has a certain bond binding each of the members to each other, and which has profound effects on the character, growth and development of each member. The parents’ relationship with each other, the parent-to-child relationship and sibling-to-sibling relationships all play big roles in the formation of an individuals character. These bonds are the very foundation from which all individuals are moulded into who they are throughout their life. This is why family matters are no small matters of reckoning. It is from within the family that one’s values and morals stem from. The family support system is a child’s initial stepping-stone to proper growth and development, as well as the first line of defence against all the challenges and obstacles the outside world may bring. Strong and healthy family relations play a critical role in the development of a child’s character and discipline, which are his tools in performing and adapting throughout his/her life.
